Editorial standards
How The Tired Generation researches, writes, checks and corrects its sleep explainers.
What the site is for
The Tired Generation explains the mismatch between human sleep biology and modern life. Articles, videos and the Mismatch Quiz are general health education. They are not medical advice, they cannot diagnose a condition and they do not replace a qualified assessment.
How articles are researched
- Every article starts from a real question people ask about sleep or tiredness.
- Claims are checked against primary research, systematic reviews, clinical guidelines or statements from professional bodies, and every article lists its sources.
- We say what kind of evidence a claim rests on. A small laboratory study, an animal experiment, a population association and a randomised trial are not treated as the same thing.
- Each article includes a short “What this does not prove” note so the limits of the evidence stay visible.
- Population benchmarks, such as recommended sleep duration, are described as benchmarks, not as personal targets.
What we avoid
- Miracle claims, quick fixes and promises of a cure.
- Turning a symptom into a diagnosis, or telling readers to change prescribed treatment.
- Fear-based framing and invented precision, such as exact “sleep debt” calculators.
Videos and the quiz
The YouTube explainers follow the same research standard as the articles. The Mismatch Quiz is an educational pattern finder, not a validated screening test. It scores your answers in your browser and suggests one pattern to investigate and one small experiment.
Advertising and affiliate links
Some articles contain affiliate links. They are marked “Advertisement” and explained in the text, and the site may receive a commission. Affiliate links are added only where a product fits the topic, and they never change what an article concludes about the evidence. Details are in the affiliate disclosure.
Corrections and updates
If you find a factual error, a broken or outdated source, or a claim that goes further than its evidence, please write via the contact page and name the article.
- Errors that change the meaning of a passage are corrected promptly, and a short correction note with the date is added at the end of the article.
- When an article is substantially revised, it shows an “Updated” date next to the publication date.
- Small fixes such as typos or formatting are made without a note.
